Seward’s Tire, a 50-year-old family-owned business located in Great Barrington, has become part of the City Tire and Auto Centers (City Tire) family. Founded in 1927, City-Tire is also family-owned and already has a location nearby in Pittsfield. The Seward’s name will be retained. According to Manager Matt Buffoni, not much will change, “Other than seeing a few new faces, customers will not see any difference in quality of service.” [VIDEO]
Buffoni is a 20-year employee of City Tire and had previously been assistant manager of City Tire’s Pittsfield Store. He also announced that the store will now have Saturday hours from 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Paul Dumont, a Seward’s Tire veteran who has been promoted to Assistant Manager, the reputation for high-quality service will remain, “When anyone posts on the community board in Great Barrington about where to go with tire question, the response is always to go to Seward’s Tire.”
About City Tire and Auto Centers’ mission is to continually improve our reputation by exceeding our customers’ expectations through leadership, integrity, respect, and the pursuit of excellence. City Tire Company was founded in 1927 by Irving “Greeny” Greenberg, a Russian immigrant who moved to the United States through Ellis Island with his family in 1906. Greeny founded City Tire with the vision that “Quality and Honesty are what keep a customer.” Over the last 96 years City Tire has continued to exemplify this core principle in our business every day. When Greeny passed the reigns to his son, Larry, in 1956, City Tire began its journey of growth beyond tires and adding full AST-certified automotive repair. In the early 1980’s, the current owners and Greeny’s grandsons, Peter and Dan Greenberg, joined the business and began the third generation carrying out his vision.
